  • who will cry when you die

This is going to be a slightly depressing post, and for the weak hearted, and the ones who frequent the sphere to get their regular dose of fun, I would not suggest this one.

I just stumbled across this article Steve jobs to die in six weeks.

Death, though inevitable, is an obvious thing impending each one of us alive. It is bound to come someday. This SOMEDAY is the question. Are we ready to die today?

All of our today’s decisions are based on the assumption that we are not dying tomorrow, or in the near future.  And good that this is the way we operate. I pity the person who lives everyday with the fear of death. This probably would kill him many more times than the actual death. As I keep repeating to one of my good friend, “Bhayam unte sachipo!” (go die, rather than fearing!)

Live life fully, completely, not thinking about the thing that will anyways hound you one day.

Quoting SRK on this, “Jiyo, muskrao, khush raho.. raho.. kya pata.. kal ho na ho”

Kal ho na ho.. this is the bare truth staring at each one of us, and rightfully so. The more important thing that we should be thinking about is, are we doing justice to the life today?

Leaving you with this thought, and a suggested read – Who will cry when you die? By Robin Sharma.

Note: A part inspiration for this thought also arose from this pluggd.in post on an L alumni’s death.

p.s.: So much are people worried about his death, and avoiding rumours spreading that there is actually a website on steve – http://www.isstevejobsdead.com/

  • Valentine to Marriage?

Every year, people all across the world, join together to celebrate this festival called VALENTINE’s DAY. Guess, it should be the single most festival celebrated in the maximum number of countries, next maybe only to Christmas.

To start with, a very happy valentine’s day to you all. Thank you so much for bearing through all the posts leading to this one, and here I would like to end the series with a thought!

The movie Dil to pagal had celebrated love like nothing else, and in this quest how could yash uncle not have a valentine’s day celebration fit in. It did.

Here, an interesting observation made by SRK is what led me to think this – These couples all look so happy, so much in love, but how many of them would actually be with the same partners the next years party too? In the facebook generation that we are living in right now, quick patch ups, and quicker break ups are an IN thing.

A bigger question to be asked here – How many of these “love” relationships would actually end in marriage?

(This question pertains only to those who are on the wrong balding side of 25, the other side can still take time!).

The post is short, and understandably so. I don’t want to be seen as someone who considers writing blog posts on valentine’s day as the most romantic thing to do.

    ”COMING…”

okay guys, need to go, and once again.. A VERY VERY HAPPY VALENTINE’s DAY.

    Do think!

~ “A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person”

  • The perfect Valentine’s day

For those who know me would agree that I am a complete romantic, and love love stories. ( heard this in some telugu movie – I LOVE LOVE STORIES!)

With the valentine’s day soon approaching, all guys out there must be tearing their hair apart thinking of that one big way, to make that particular day special. To add to their dismay, marketing companies like hallmark, archies have designed a complete Valentine’s week to increase their market scope. All the more painful for guys out there.

Here I attempt to give you some tips and some things you can surprise your girl with this valentine.

Make music. Whether it’s for the Bryan Adams show here in Bangalore, or a pure simple musical, or maybe even a Jazz pub in town. There is nothing more romantic than music, except of course for..

Shall we dance?. Richard Gere had Lopez going week in her knees once he asked her this. Girls love dancing, and whatever style you choose— Salsa, Tango or Sadda Banghrap—even if you don’t like dancing, she will definitely love that you gave it a whirl, and literally so.

Breakfast. This is something we used to do back in campus, after a night long binge session. But yes, it does gets a nod from women too. If you are the early bird types, or one of those countless unlucky ones who is working this Monday, this one is for you. Go ahead and build up an appetite before you even get out of bed. There’s no better place to start celebrating bright and an early Valentine’s day than at a secluded bed-and-breakfast. Check in the previous night in the hotel after partying, and have a sumptuous breakfast in the morning. Your boss can wait till 2PM on Monday to talk to you.

Dinner and movie night. There is a reason for this being a classic combo, since my grandfather’s generation. Go out on a evening movie, then pack in a pizza, get some wine, and have a romantic getaway in the balcony of your apartment all night staring at the skies and the stars. ( YES, I would prefer this to any of the above!) Make the romantic night more charming by giving Novelty Socks as a gift to your loved one.

Do nothing. Why stop the buck with just one day. Valentine’s day is just like any other day, coz I love my girl with the same gusto each and every day of the year, 365 days of the year. If you are someone who believes this, then this one is for you. True, women want to be loved and appreciated all year round. Take it up a notch by just being your usual self even this Monday. (disclaimer: I don’t take any guarantee of the relationship lasting after Monday,  if you follow this)

Well, after doing any one or more of these, your girl is still not impressed by you, it could just mean two things –

    1. She is plain simple, not worth it, enroll her in ShahRukhKhan’s classes by gifting her the complete movie sets of the star, and better luck next valentine.
    2. She must be reading BRAToSPHERE, in that case, please pass on the number in the comments section.
  • catching up in 2011

In spite of the many promises, I have still not kept my date with you and am really sorry for that. My apologies.

The first month of the new decade has been quite interesting, tedious, happening and to say the least quite engaging. I have been out of Bangalore for more than half of the month, and thus was not able to reply and post online in the normal frequency.

Right now, am posting this from the train, on my way back to Bangalore. And here as I travel, and write, my next trip is being planned again, after 10 days. The itinerary is being planned, as messaged. Well, this is life, and not that am complaining.

Train journeys have always intrigues me, and to get a real insight into the real india, I prefer travelling by sleeper class. This is where the real india, the rural india travels. This is where I get to meet the mango people – the aam junta of our country. This is where I get to see the behavior of the future of the country, the majority of the country.

But today, on my return journey back to Bangalore, I am in the ac compartment due to ticket availability issues. Nevertheless, no train journey in india can be without its own set of stories. Its own set of people. This train comes all the way from patna ( bihar) to bangalore, and this only makes it more interesting.

By the way, if the sleeper class gives an insight into the real Indian, the ac compartment delves on the slightly upper SEC, and well better looking women. Though, I generally am not lucky in this regard, of having the solemn company of good looking women while travelling, inspite of the frequent traveler status that I would soon would be conferred, today was different.

My whole berth, is occupied by people of the opposite sex. Most of them engineering college girls, one from VIT, 2 friends from some engineering college in Tumkur, one from a small town in bihar coming here to see her sister and 3 more from an engineering college in Bangalore.

It is quite insightful to see the very apparent difference in the different girls, purely based on their backgrounds, and their present occupations, the present place of stay and the likes. This calls for a complete post, and would do it soon.

Till then, am off, to get some more insights on this wonderful mix of women. Beep! Beep! My phone rings on an incoming sms. I am totally loving it.

Writing has been a passion since long, and I remember writing right since I was in the 1st standard. Yes, I wrote my first ever story when I was in the first standard. I had drawn a picture on my notebook with the new set of crayons. The bedsheet was more coloured than the paper, and obviously mom was furious. I told her what the picture meant, and how the bedsheet played a vital part in the overall scheme of the story. I was saved from a sound thrashing. So, that people, was my first ever story.  Though, Mom tells me that it was just to cover up the bedsheet mess, and we have ever since agreed to disagree on the same.

And in this pursuit of convincing my mom that I actually enjoy writing, I picked up writing. I started off by writing the examinations, and then graduated to writing diary.( A habit which has stuck from the past 10 years!).

In this writing career (really?), spanning several years, there have been several times that I have been published. Don’t believe me? I should show you my school section magazines, I was published twice there in three years.

I also vividly remember the instance when I was baby sitting one of my cousin’s son. This was sometime during my tenth standard. The little brat ( he now follows my blog! Can’t name him), was not allowing me play my new video game in peace, and I had to shut him up. I told him a story. A story with lots of strange creatures called BOO. I could not use devils, as my cousin would not really like me scaring his kid, and harry potter mania had still not caught on. After the story, the kid was so psyched out, and till date is afraid of me, when I utter the B word. My first tryst with influencing people with my stories.

I had written a couple of times to gokulam, I also wanted to write for tinkle but did not know how to cartoon, and by the time I realized that we just need to send the story I was reading playboy. Gradually, I started writing for rediff, contributed to jam Mag, was involved with the college magazine, and realizing that I just want to write without others approving it, I started blogging.

I am still waiting for the writing to be made on the brick on the wall.

Now here, I would want you all to read, not one of my stories, but an article I had written sometime back for Business world. This is about life at IIML, and in B-Schools in general, and my stay there. Hope it helps the aspirants to be better equipped.
