I was completely engrossed in completing the second book of Kaavya, as now she probably would not be in a mood to do it. Ha.. Even though, we may not get to see her second book I did not want to deprive my dear blog readers ( Whether dear is attached to the ‘blog’ or ‘readers’ depends on your gender… smack!) the oppurtunity of going through my nonsensical second post by the same title. I know that the previous post has no bearing with the title, except for the small post script, and i have been receiving lots of hate mail for that( Thank you for the mails, for commenting in a public arena would be even more disastarous).

Now to the topic of Opal mehta. i, for one, surely believe that she wrote well. She may have copied, or lifted sentences or paragraphs all together( The word is plagiarism) from other books but she brought new light to the entire genre of chic-lit books. Now, how many of have heard of the plagiarized authors or their books?. But, kaavya was famous even before the controversy brole out. Maybe, she was popular for she was all 17, for she had been paid a huge ammount, for her excellent prpoganda skills or for the fact that she looks gud( the last was reason is my own 🙂 ).

Whatever, it takes stuff for a product to sell. marketing can only do that nuch – market the product, and maybe get the potential consumers towards the product. After that, the product has to sell on its own. Anyone, who has read HOW OPAL.. would hopefully agree with me that the book was a very comfortable read, and it was a very light book. Anyways, now nothing much can be done, and i hope kaavya returns back to writing.

The other day on TV, i was watching the protestors against the quota regime. The way they were being beaten. I am sure if they were animals( Now, te afct that man is a rational animal is a different issue..) Maneka Gandhi would be on a hunger strike by now. I mean even animals are not treated so ruthlessly, and thses were medicos – the future doctors of the nation. A nation where doctors are considered next to God.. Damn! and all this for a few extra votes.

The real motive motive of the UPA government seems to be the upcoming elections in UP, which has the most number of BCs, and the congress does not have a favourable hold in the state. How can the politicians droop so low to be in power?? I know that there have been worser instances, but this one would directly hamper the growth of the nation. When it is already time for even the existing quota regime to be gradually done with, introduction of new quotas is surely not called for. Ha!! if this is to happen, My future posts, and scores of fellow bloggers like me, would be posting from a foreign location. And then after many years, and after generating huge wealth for a foreign country, attend the Bharat Pravasi Diwas, where India would still be begging for investments.

RDB paved the path for such actions of the government, and i pray nothing happens to Arjun Singh. When peace doesen’t work, such things would come into picture. History has shown that the most violent of the protests and agitations have been held by youths. Once again, Bhagat singh would have to take birth and cleanse the system or atleast shake it up. In a recent survey by INDIA TODAY it is observed that Arjun singh has fell to the 27th position from a cosy 5th position in 2005. and what is to be blamed? He should take a cue from Praful patel( 1st position) who has revolutionized the aviation industry or even from our own Lalu prasad yadav. Guess, which position he is at?? secondva!! and he deserves it for turning the railways around. han laluji, ab shekhar anna ko aapki tang khichne ka naya masala milega !!!

Even as you read this sentence there are four new connections of new phones being taken in India. wow!! that is the pace of growth of cell phones in the country. Laudable. read it in the same issue of INDIA TODAY. ( Please, i don’t want to plagiarize)

I m now off to get my cell phone recharged and get the damn 50 cent dialer tone out, to stop it from draining my meagre balance. and trust me, the second book by kaavya would have been great!!

One thing that i know about myself for sure is that i m a very lazy person, and my ass is comparable with the stingy miser, in a old hindi flick, who charges money even to sneeze.. Lots of things were planned out for the holidays, and whole lot of schedules sketched of the to-do things. They ranged from preparin for the ensuing campus placements, to building a decent physique( I m not a skiny sulking, but a few kilos at my biceps would add that magical touch i guess, And then i would b flaunting them as” Yeh Dhaai Kilo Ka Haath..” ala Sunny deol in Damini…), going for a early morning walk, and above all following the schedule as far as possible. Well, I guess th ‘as-far-as-possible’ condition of mine is too general and my lazy bones are taking advantage of this.

Well, If one would have noticed.. i have been using lots of Hindi movie quotes of late!! Reason – Seeing all crappy bolly movies over and over again… to kill time. Doing s’thing useful in my language meant, do something that would be useful for the future.. Something that would benefit me in the long run… So, I joined the Vizag film society. In future it would save me the time of watching these english flicks( Now, i end up watching every movie a couple of times is a different issue).. Coming to this film society thing, this is a relatively nhew concept in this part of the world that i live.. inspite the fact that people here are crazy about movies, and there is a stampede at the theatre for a week or so, when the movie of a big star releases… So, it was something like the absence of an ac in a hot, humid place. Bad comparision 😀 See i have this tendency of drifting away from the main topic and drool all around and around..

The film society has been exhibiting latest movies of late( Zeugma intended), and in the process i have seen CRASh and BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, both oscar winning movies, and which would atleast take away an easy 2 years away from me before i get the chance to watch it on the big screen..( My place, has this enimity with hollywood, and makes sure the movie releases only after everyone, including th washerwoman’s son has seen it on CD.. piracy.)

Other than sleeping and watching movies, I have been going to the steel plant for my industrial training, and one thing that comes to my mind on seeing it is “AWE!!..!! with an open mouth. The feeling that comes to the mind on seeing the magnificient structures, and the complex automation , one is left as awe-struck that a 3 year 4 months old would be on seeing the sea for the first time. But all this awe is robbed away, once the concerned guide opens up his mouth and starts doling out gyaan of the technical knowlege he has gained all these years. I do agree that it is important, and we being electronic engineers need to know the fine nuacance involved in the working, but dude, we get to learn those even in the classroom.. We have come to the plant to experience the huge structures, and see the beauty of science..

Well if this is what comes 2 ur mind after a first look at this.. Think again. This is me – the same old Bharat Jhurani, posting from the comfort of my dark, humid, no-ac-in-this-hot-summer room, on the same old crappy blog. Yes, the looks have been changed 2 save one from monotonicity, and as someone said – “Change is the spice of life”..Well there are a host of interactive tools lined up for the blog 2 make it more utilatirian, and that would keep me busy for the next few weeks. In the meantime, I m also working on Blogroll – a service where one can link all the known blogs at one neat clutter free place. So, those of u who would want 2 have their url’s tagged here – please lemme know. ( note : If u wish 2 remain anonymous u can mail me at bharat_jhurani@yahoo.com). One condition : The blog to be linked need to meet a threshold needs 2 necessarily be better than the one u r reading.. Hah! These days,i m as busy as a condom salesman in a place called ugandesga, inhabited by Tribals who are atleast 653 years behind us in civilization. Most of my time is whiled away on the internet, that is after i manage 2 get the household stuff, and b able 2 sit on the comp without any hindrance. i hav been so addicted 2 the internet that my mom suspects that i have a girl friend, and i whiling away chattting 2 her 2 cut my phone bills. The recent purchase of a headset, along with mic, further led 2 the doubts. Neways, it is a known fact – My doodhwala knows it, that i am at present cery much single, and going by my antics, it is not goin 2 happen for a long ;ong time 2 come. the girl-friend thing. That is unless, i get 2 befriend Chota Anna from Dubai, and he arranges a Monica Bedi for me.

These days, my eyes are complaining very badly 2 every source, except me, and the other day they even managed 2 get into my mom’s head 2 warn me of overusing them. Actually it is not my fault. The insomniac that God has made me, I don;t get sleep before my neighbour Bunty gets ready for his morning jog, and mornings the paper boy makes sure that i wake up before the sun reaches his head. So, I hav been readin, Surfing, and watching lots of TV.

On the TV – Sunday afternoon at 12 noon. Dozens of channels doling out lots of Old movies which can make one learn the entire dialoges of the movie by-rote. And admist this “Kutte, Kamine.. ” There r these music channels which vie for attention, but make sure that they don’t broadcast any songs, and make us a master in ad-mad show. Now i understand how i won 2nd prize at ad-Mad show last yaer at Tornado. On the local cable channel was the annual day celecration of a school, with all these cute children dancing out in perfect tandem and beaming parents gleefully showin them off to their colleagues.”Look, that is my chintu.. there he is acting as a plant”…On yet another channel was the annual funstion of IIPM, who managed 2 get Bombay vikings 2 their fest.. singing “Kya soorat hai.. “.. 2 the cheers of the overpacked stadium.

Looking at all these made me think how ppl get so excited on the thought of coming in the tv. In this regard, i remember this sitcom that i had seen not-so-long back.

On a hot wednesday,a not-so-young boy, munna with curled locks, and with looks that matched that of Kaalia in Sholay, comes home running 2 his house and jumps – ” ma, I have acted in a TV soap.. It is goin 2 b aired on sat night.”.. Everyone in his house is very happy and his dad who generally keeps cribbing that his munna is “bekaar”.. jumps and hugs Munna. He orders his wife 2 make sweets and after treating munna to his full, takes some to the office next day. It was actually a pretext 2 inform everyone of the achievement, his son has got. The mother leaves no stone unturned and informs every possible known person. The kanpur wali Aunty, the jamshedpur wale bhaiya, the jaipur wali mausi.. everyone gets 2 know about it by frantic phone calling by the mom.

On saturday evening, at 8:30, one hour before the scheduled time of the telecast of the soap – “kahaani Becharon ki..” the house of munna was beaming with activity. all the neighbourhood had gathered 2 view the event as if it was India Vs. Pak in the world cup finals. Come 9:30, and every one is mouthstruck silent. They c in anticipation, even the credits. After 3 mins, the TV shouts ” zandu balm.. zandu balm…”.. a commercial break. The next part comes and goes to make way 4 the break and then at abt 10:10( the serials are never punctual), the end credits start doling out, but there is no sign of Munna, even in a background. the shot scene was apparently edited away. Every one returns away 2 their respective homes, laughing at Munna. His dad’s face represented that of a person who ahs lost his life’s earnings in a gamble. Munna is dejected, and more so are his parents.

days pass by, and one fine monday morning, Munna was watching tv – National Geographic channel. his dad comes over. Munna does not see him in his concentration in watching the different mating process in dogs. His dad look at his face, looks at the tv, looks at his face then thetv screen and after about a minute of this exercise, he catches hold of munna’s neck and shakes him like he was a bottle of champagne, shouting – ” Ab to kutte, billi bhi aa gaye.. tu kab aayega…”!!

>Today happens 2 b one more holiday in our land of holiday makers. Reason : POLLING. Well, the need 4 the by-poll arose after the death of the reigning MLA, and his son has taken the mantle 2 run 4 the post. This is actually the second time that v hav polls in this year, 4 the last one was countermanded on account of large scale violation of model code. Whatever, it was God’s way of allowing me 2 vote 4 the first time in my life( and am not quite sure if i’ll do it again :-D). Yes, i have just got my left index finger blackened by utilizing my fundamental right( Probably, the only one.. rest all r duties).
Actually it was my dad who forced me 2 exercise my vote, maybe in the fear of it being scrapped again, and Dad having 2 close down the shop shutters for one more day. So, after dad went through the process and returned, I went along with my mom, with the same enthusiasm that a 5 year old has while clinging to his mom on the way 2 a park. Actually, i was very curious 2 hav a first hand experience of the happenings there, and 2 say the least it was quite a funny scene there at the polling booth.

I entered into a booth, which looked a set straight out of some horror movie – the only difference being that it was hustling with activity, by not so impressive looking people. There the man gave me a wierd look and asked me 4 my number. Now out of the scribble in Telugu on the small slip( Paper conservation!!…), which no. do i quote?? I said 20, and he gave me a puzzled look. I had actually given out my age, I reconciled and gave him ny number. He scanned through the volumnious pages and said that my name was not there with a ” you-have-failed” look. The other person there took over and informed me that i had indeed come to the wrong booth and i was directed to the right one.

At the right booth, i was more cautious now that i had the first phase experience. i went in confidently, and went through the same process when the supervisor there asked for an identity proof, with a look that is generally reserved for the traffic policeman while asking for the licence. I was fortunately carrying my College identity card, and flashed it out. Suddenly the whole expression changed and that same person started giving me looks as if we have known each other since childhood, and jovially asked me ” So, u r from GITAM”.. “No, I just got that card made 2 flash out at such occasions”.. “Yes” i replied. And from then on that person guided me to the whole process, got me marked on the finger and even wanted 2 follow me to the actual booth box, where he finally realized that he was not allowed( See, what a college does 2 a person. I later came to know that he has a son, who would be appearing for his entrance this year, and that person there was bent on gettin him into our college). After exercising my suffrage, i left the booth, of course after a short ‘unwanted’ chat with that person.

At home, like a 2nd standard boy running to his father to show his cent percent report card and claim his gift, I showed the black mark on my index finger 2 my father, who glaringly commented ” gud, So now u have become a responsible citizen”. My mom has informed me that the mark wold only when the nail leaves my body, that is after it outgrows and gets trimmed. Now i understand why there was no substabtial queue in the ladies section, and i thought it was due to the upsurging imbalance in the girl : boy ratio in the country. Anyways, the whole process of voting was exciting, and has left an indelible mark on my memory, and on my index finger.

Coming to other things in life, I have Passed. Yes, i hav succesfully cleared all the subjects in the third year socond semester, and have just two more sems left 2 get that coveted degree. Ofcourse, i have managed to mantain just a meagre CGPA of 8.4, but nevertheless i m happy. “Pappu pass ho gaya..”

My training at Vizag steel plant has commenced last week, and v r havin a rockin time there. I m gradually realising the magnitude of logistics that r managed at such huge plants, and it has left me awe-struck.

>ok people.. Once again I m very sorry 4 the huge gap between the posts… but this time i promise ( and trust me, It will be abided) the frequency of posts will increase exponentially. The reason 4 the gap is the semester xams – they were dreadedful.

The recently concluded semester xams were a nightmare, to say the least. The VLSI xam, which marked the beginning of the externals was the worst xam that i have written since childhood, probabably. Everything in the exam went against me. Right from the fact that i had no self transport( So, had to rely on the pathetic, nearly non-existent public transport system) to the fact that my confidence level for this exam was at an ebb, everythin joined together and conspired against poor me. To top that, my limited memory failed me completely and so did my sparse presentation skills. The xam was so bad that I doubt i may fail!! Seriously dude, that would be a disastor.

I did’nt want to write this post and so have been consciously avoiding blogs, but that just did’nt help. I tried hard 2 get the thought of the xam out of my mind, and 4 this i hav been seeing lots of movies( Shaadi no. 1, Appollo , Assassins, Road to perdition, Garam masala, Philadelpia..) but even that did’nt help. So, finally i succumbed and am posting thsi… 🙁

On other things in life – V hav our sem-end holidays till mid june. And my industrial training at visakhapatnam steel plant begins tommorrow.

Saying this i sign off 4 now, with the promise to return back soon…
